Tips for a great Engagement Photo session
Our best advice for a successful engagement session
Tip #1: Location, Location, Location
For your engagement photos pick a spot meaningful to you and your fiancé. If no places come to mind ask us for recommendations. We’ll be sure to find a location unique and representative of the two of you as a couple.
Tip #2: Make it a hot date
Plan a hot date and invite us along. The purpose of the photo shoot is to capture your focus on your partner and your love for each other. Try to relax and enjoy being together. Just think of it, you're relationship has gotten to a point where you are committing to spending the rest of your lives together and we're celebrating this. Love is a beautiful thing!
Tip #3: Hair & Makeup
Consider wearing matte makeup or getting your makeup applied by a professional. It can also be a good idea to get your hair done on that day, perhaps your regular salon visit can be scheduled on the day of your engagement shoot…two birds with one stone! On hot days carry oil blotting tissues (make up safe) available at the local drugstore.
Tip #4: Clothing
Wear what best represents you. Don’t wear something because you think it’s what you “should” wear in a photo. Have fun and be creative! If you're unsure ask us our opinion. Feel free to text or email some ideas and we can help you pick the perfect outfit.
Tip #5: Get Roudy
Jump in the ocean, pond, whatever. Think of something crazy you two could do that would be leave a mark as one of the funnest time in your life! Just have fun with the engagement session. Remember, for us the crazier the idea the better!
Tip #6: Have a jam session
On the drive to your engagement photography session, loosen up to your favorite cd and crank it up!
Tip #7: Water
The days leading up to your engagement session make sure to drink extra water to hydrate your skin for the photos.
Tip #8: Strike a Pose
When we give you posing suggestions, enjoy yourselves and have fun while posing. Don't be afraid to make your own suggestions and work with the initial pose you're given.
Tip #9: Be Yourself
It is extremely important that you relax in front of the camera. In fact, this is the key to a successful photo shoot. Just be yourself. Your engagement photos will look beautiful
To summarize an engagement session is often times considered as a practice session for your wedding day but this doesn't mean you shouldn't take advantage of being photographed by a professional and go all out. When planning with your photographer look to their guidance but the best guidance from them will come when you tell them your story. What it is you two like to do together and things that you really enjoy, Are you are fashion forward couple that loves nights out on the town? Social butterflies who like to spend your time surrounded by a crowd? Does music represent you and what is the style of that music? Nature your thing? All of these thoughts can make the creative juices flow when you have the right photographer.
